Runners can score a hat-trick for completing all three Vancouver International Marathon Society events

BMO Vancouver Marathon, Granville Island Turkey Trot, and Fall Classic complete trio

Vancouver, BC – April 9, 2015 – Runners who complete all three events organized by the Vancouver International Marathon Society (Society) will be rewarded with a special hat-trick commemorative item.

The Society, a not-for-profit, has been organizing the Vancouver Marathon since 1987. In 2014, the Society also added the Granville Island Turkey Trot in October and the UBC Fall Classic in November to its running series.

“This new initiative is offered to runners who complete a race from each of our three events and is a unique way to reward and thank them for their enthusiasm and commitment to the Society,” says Charlene Krepiakevich, Executive Director of the Vancouver International Marathon Society.

All 2015 BMO Vancouver Marathon runners will automatically be recorded as completing the first of the three events. If runners also participate in the Granville Island Turkey Trot and Fall Classic races, they will receive their commemorative reward following the final event in November.

“As a volunteer-based organization, we do this because of the health, social and economic benefits that sport brings to the community. With the Granville Island Turkey Trot and Fall Classic events taking place in the fall and the four BMO Vancouver races occurring in the spring, we have events to keep athletes running all year long,” concludes Krepiakevich.

This year, the Society has also developed community Run Clubs and events that are free to attend and open to everyone. To build runner engagement and help expand running networks the Society offers a casual, fun, weekly Downtown RunVan Club taking runners on routes all around Vancouver’s famous Stanley Park, the seawall and through downtown streets.

In addition, this year the Society has also put on ten, free, small community events for runners and running enthusiasts including the Discovery Runs, Jog n Nog, Sole Mates Run, and Speaker Series.

Registration for the BMO Vancouver Marathon is now open. The Granville Island Turkey Trot will open race registrations in May, 2015 and the Fall Classic opens registration in June, 2015.
